Mae cariad Duw yn dal yr un o hyd
At yr afradlon fu ar goll cyhyd;
  Er imi gefnu ar fy hen ystad
  Mae ffordd yn ôl
      i aelwyd tŷ fy Nhad.

Gwag yw y byd,
    a'i newyn yn parhau,
Twyllodrus yw ei addewidion gau;
  Er cael ei wenau,
      a'i gynhesaf nyth,
  Ni leinw wagle
      fy nhrueni byth.

Pa les i ddyn yw
    ennill aur a bri
A cholli hawl
    yn nigon Calfari?
  I enaid tlawd, wrth dynnu at y rhyd,
  Mae gwerth yr Iawn
      yn fwy na gwerth y byd.

Goludoedd daear,
    a thrysorau'r môr,
sydd wagedd hebot Ti, fendigaid Iôr;
  Ond llawnder bywyd,
      a sylweddau'r byd,
  A wedd newidir
      gan Dy ras i gyd.

Daw llanw môr
    Dy hen addewid hael
I mewn i hafnau fy nhrueni gwael;
  A chwyd y llif
      yn wynfyd ac yn gân
  I ddiffodd nwydau
      fu yn hir ar dân.

Sancteiddia'n llwyr fy nhueddiadau ffol
A thyn fy serch
    at gyfoeth gras yn ôl;
  Drwy fyd o orthrymderau, cadw fi
  Uwchben fy nigon yn Dy heddwch Di.

The love of God holds the same always
Towards the prodigal who was so far lost;
  Although I turn my back on my old estate
  There is a way back
      to the hearth of my Father's house.

Vain is the world,
    and its hunger continuing,
Deceptive are its false promises;
  Although getting its smiles,
      and its warmest nest,
  It will not fill the void
      of my wretchedness ever.

What benefit to man is
    winning gold and renown
And losing a claim
    on the sufficiency of Calvary?
  For a poor soul, while
      drawing to the ford,
  The worth of the Ransom
      is greater than the
          worth of the world.

The riches of the earth,
    and the treasures of the sea,
Are vanity without Thee, blessed Lord;
  But the fullness of life,
      and the substance of the world,
  Are to have their countenance changed
      all by Thy grace.

The sea tide
    of Thy generous, old promise will come
Into the harbours of my base wretchedness;
  And the floodtide swell
      in blessedness and in song
  To extinguish the lusts
      which were long on fire.

Sanctify completely my foolish tendencies
And draw my affection
    back to the wealth of grace;
  Through a world of afflictions, keep me
  Above my sufficiency in Thy peace.
